Rakhi Sawant: Controversy Again !
Posted on 30. Sep, 2006 by musicNmovies.info in Scoops
Just few weeks ago only there was huge protest to ban her latest music video featuring Rakhi in very short nurse uniform and dancing in a remix number. Countering such allegations, she said;
There is nothing wrong with my dress at all. I am decently dressed for songs and albums like the one I have done. Unka deemag kharab ho gaya hai (They have gone crazy). It’s not my problem. They should know that I can’t do item songs in saris. I have said several times that I am an item girl and I dress according to the song and dance I perform.
The old problem had not even cooled down, she got herself once again into new controversy.
She was seen in a mini skirt and a short top at a garba event organized by Pancham Group at Helipad Ground in Bardoli. After all the previous protests, Rakhi Sawant had agreed to perform in a traditional chaniya-choli in Bardoli.
But the moment she stepped on the stage, the audience yelled, ‘Mika, Mika.’ She took the microphone and said, “Mika ko maro goli, garba enjoy karo. Garba mein mazaa nahin aata toh mujhe dekh kar enjoy karo.”
Following the protests police had to wrap up the program before its scheduled time. Inspector Chawda, who wrapped the event, explained that they had warned the organizer, Prashant Parmar, to be careful of her dress, otherwise they will have to face the consequences.
Reacting to the incident she said;
It’s all unnecessary controversy. I am hot and sexy. Whatever I wear I look hot. Even if I wear a sari, people will still have a problem because I look hot in sari too. If I have worn a nurse’s dress and I am looking sexy, I think I have done the right kind of role. Let people feel jealous about it. I don’t care at all. Very soon they will realize what Rakhi Sawant is…
Don’t we already know who she is ?
Jai Santoshi Maa (2006) Movie Review – lacks 70s touch !
Posted on 29. Sep, 2006 by musicNmovies.info in 2006, Reviews
Director Ahmed Siddiqui remains faithful to the original classic, which was a simple film, but had the power to mesmerize viewers of all ages. The only changes that you see in the new JAI SANTOSHI MAA are a rich canvas and of course, new set of actors. A commendable effort nonetheless!
JAI SANTOSHI MAA is about how Maa supports her devotees. It’s a story about how undying faith in Santoshi Maa can redeem one’s life. And how the divine intervention of the Goddess can change one’s life entirely.

JAI SANTOSHI MAA is the story of Mahima [Nushrat Bharucha], an ardent devotee of Santoshi Maa and Anuraag [Rakesh Bapat], a musician by heart. It’s a saga of all the hardships they face, with no complaints or regrets, and how they overcome these hardships with Santoshi Maa’a blessings.
Mahima’s father is a music teacher and her mother a devotee of Maa. She is married to Anuraag, a young man whose passion is music. Since this marriage is against the will of Anuraag’s family, only hardships come their way. Fed up with humiliation, Anuraag decides to try his luck elsewhere, where no one knows him. But Mahima decides to stay back and serve her in-laws. But what does she get in return? Misery, pain and distress from each and every member of the family.
With no shoulder to lean on, Mahima starts worshipping Santoshi Maa. She starts her ’solah shukrawar vrats’ and follows them religiously. She withstands everything that comes her way with a smile on her face and faith in her heart. Finally, Maa is pleased. The Goddess not only makes all her wishes come true, but also blesses her husband with all the success he ever wished for.
Inspite of strong performance and good story, the maker of Jai Santoshi Maa falters in the music department. The strongest point of 70s Jai Santoshi Maa was its devotional songs, which are till today chanted on every religious ocassions.
SRK on his ladies: Rani – silent learner
Posted on 29. Sep, 2006 by musicNmovies.info in Chit Chat, Exclusives
After much deliberation, he decided to try her out. They straightened her hair, did her make-up and gave her a mini-skirt for the Koi mil gaya song. That’s where it all started from. When I first saw her dancing, I realised she’s a better dancer than me. She looked fantastic when she walks in with the guitar in the Koi mil gaya song. The first scene we did together, was her death scene in the film. It was a difficult scene for her first major film. But she was very good. That’s when I spent time with her and got to know her.
The good thing about Rani is that she’s a silent learner. She sits quietly and observes and then imbibes. Rani can be in place, even when it’s completely beyong her understanding or interest. Like she may wonder why I’m sitting with stamp collectors. But she will keep quiet and understand what’s the right thing to say or do in a particular situation. This is her asset as an actor too.
I think Rani is very loyal to me. She doesn’t need to be but she is. She knows I spotted her. She doesn’t owe me anything for it but she behaves as if she owes me her life. I can call her right now and say, “Rani I’m doing a film and I want you in it. I don’t know what you’re doing but you have to come from tomorrow.? And she’ll come. She won’t say, “Shah, I’m shooting in Jaipur.? She’ll come, start shooting and later perhaps she’ll tell me her problems.
I’ve even slapped her a couple of times on the sets of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Chalte Chalte when she didn’t deliver to the extent I believe only she can. Sometimes she has a concentration problem. Now, of course she insists that I slap her every time. She tells me,
If you slap me, the film becomes a hit.

- In the movie, Rohit says that he has worked continuosly for the Professor for 2 yrs and was going to return home after the Computer’s inaugration, if Rohit was 2 yrs away frm home then how did his wife get pregnant? Jadoo!!
Phir Hera Pheri
- Suniel Shetty tells Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal that he has done his PhD, so he wouldn’t have difficulty in finding a job in Mumbai. But in the film nobody calls him Dr Shyam.
- In the original Hera Pheri, Shyam, Raju and Baburao get Rs 40 lakhs, but in the sequel, director Neeraj Vohra has shown that they stay in a bungalow worth Rs 50 lakhs and yet manage to save a sum of Rs 10 Lakhs each. Now that’s what I call real hera pheri.
- Its the scene where Suniel Shetty pours the bucket fll of water on Akshay when hes in the bathroom. When he comes out, they show hes soaked, if you look carefully he is wearing brand name flip flops (chapels). They are Nike. How is it possible for him to afford brand name chapels if he can’t afford a proper banyan, one that is not ripped. (Hera Pheri)
Rang De Basanti
- In Rang De Basanti, Alice Patten, a Britisher, whom we learn is taking Hindi classes, throws a Hindi cussword, Tumhari maa ki aankh, at her boss. Nice to know they teach cusswords in Hindi classes in Britain!
- Aamir Khan and his friends are students of Delhi University. But when they go to watch a movie they head for Mumbai’s Adlabs theatre!
- After assassinating the Defence Minister (Mohan Agashe), Aamir Khan and his friends flee from Delhi and are shown sitting in a ruined fort reading a Hindi newspaper. But at the end of the scene, the newspaper’s turned into an English one!
- We first hear that the Defence Minister has been shot at 7.58 am and then we see the same flashed as ‘Breaking News’ on a TV channel but the time on the TV screen is 7.46 am. Did the channel staff have a premonition about the event? Future shock, kya?
- During the climax, when Alice Patten wants to contact Aamir and other members of his group, she can’t call them on their mobile phones because they didn’t own any. Strange, especially in today’s ultra fast mobile times.
Parineeta
- Lolita’s aunt is shown working in a scene on a USHA sewing machine. The film is set in 1960s. The model of the sewing machine is not made in the ’60s.
- The first Elvis record disk they show in the film towards the beginning shows Elvis in his White diamond-studded suit and bloated look. This was how Elvis looked in the 1970s. The film is set in 1962.
- The movie features ads for Saridon, an analgesic and a “headache specialist”. (The company making Saridon, Boots Piramal Healtcare Pvt Ltd, was one of the sponsors of the movie.) Saridon was launched in India in 1969. The movie is set in 1962.
- The guitar that Shekhar plays in this movie was not made in 1962 (when the movie is set). The first synthetic roundbacks, introduced by Ovation, weren’t in production until 1966, and the particular model seen in the film was brought in much later than that.
SRK on his ladies: Kajol – Haleys comet
Posted on 27. Sep, 2006 by musicNmovies.info in Chit Chat, Exclusives
Kajol and I have had too many years of togetherness. There’s just too much love. Too much buddiness. I don’t see her very often these days though. She comes home once in a while and brightens up the surroundings. The whole house is in disarray. She shouts, screams and leaves such an impact that it takes a while to recover from it, emotionally (love-wise, happiness-wise, screaming-wise, news-wise and gossip-wise). When she goes away, we await her next visit. Like the Haley’s comet, she’s a regular. She returns brightly like a comet with a lot of spectacle.
SRK on his ladies: Juhi – Best comic timing
Posted on 26. Sep, 2006 by musicNmovies.info in Chit Chat, Exclusives
I’ve been in love with her since Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. I really believe I’m blessed to have worked with her. She thinks I’m a fluke. She calls me Lucky Ali. She says you’re just lucky, man. Till date she tells me I’m the biggest fluke in the history of Indian cinema. “You have nothing going for you,? she says.
When it comes to comic actors I would say Peter Sellers, Steve Martin, Jim Carrey. And among the greatest comic timing actors I’ve ever seen or ever worked with would be Juhi Chawla. Even now when I have to do a comedy scene, she is my reference point. Can I do it like Juhi? How would she have done it?
The last film I did with her was One Two Ka Four. I saw that film recently on television. She’s so funny man. I keep harping on her comic timing because I believe that for an actor to be great they have to be great at comedy. So that way Juhi is one of the finest, finest actors. But I feel Juhi didn’t get enough people to exploit her talent. Just like Amitji (Amitabh Bachcan). She has such a range as an actress. Watch her in Teen Deewarein, she’s awesome.
On the personal level, I’m so close to her it’s like family. The love I feel for her is something I can’t describe. I love her kids Jahnvi and Arjun. And my whole point in life is that they should grow up thinking I’m their favourite uncle. It’s my duty to completely spoil them. She’s a fantastic mother, a little strict. So I feel it’s my duty to spoil both of them. When I say I’ll make her children rebel against her, she gets disturbed. But I love being with her and her children. We even plan our holidays together. It’s one family I wish every happiness.
They’re my extended family. So at a personal level, it’s like talking about my own household.

LRMB had a simple, yet new and refreshing story. While KANK carried controversial, opiniated message, which would obvioulsy have mixed response.
I personally think LRMB was far more better in terms of story and its simplistic down to earth treatment, whilc KANK relied too much on STAR VALUE. It has always been same with Johar movies, its the starcast, glossy look and other gimmicks what they want to cash, more than by script. To some extent, they have been successful, but unfortunately not a super-hit tag this time. With such a hugestarcast (Dr. Amitabh, Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukherjee, Abhishek, Preity) the movie was already generating thunderous responses before its premiere.
KANK has been decalred as highest overseas grosser of the year till now (~70 crore). While it didn’t get as expected collection in India inspite of record breaking start all over India. Within a week or two, the collections were dropping in rapid succession all over India which clearly indicated, it was just the star value which had attracted viewers. All India collection till now (6 weeks) is around 46 crore.
While, LRMB is still going strong both within India & Overseas. The drop is just 20% in its thrid week. BoxOfficeIndia shows LRMB (within three weeks) have already earned more than KANK(six weeks) till now. Movies like LRMB are here to change the trend of Indian Cinema, not just from the boxoffice perspective. These kind of movies will be cherished forever like HrishiDa’s, Bimal Da’s movie. They never get old, and every generation will be able to connect with it. Its yet another slap on face to those so called big filmmaker (e.g. Johars, Chopras) who are always eager to paint glossy pictures and bet on stardom instead of simplistic approach with good script.
LRMB have already collected 47 crore in India within its first three weeks and is still going stronger in many palces. While overseas collection isn’t as impressive as KANK, but its going steady and have already grossed above 18 crore in three weeks.
Its Vidhu Vinod Chopras answer to ‘Only SRK & Sex Sells’. Without a single scence of physical disclosure, without much star value, LRMB is on its way to make biggest hit of the year.
