Opposition to Amitabh Bachchan as Kerala tourism ambassador

A week after Amitabh Bachchan accepted Kerala’s request to become the state’s brand ambassador to promote tourism, the move is apparently facing stiff opposition. ‘I would not like to name those who have expressed their displeasure in inviting Big B to promote Kerala tourism. A few social and cultural personalities have said that this should not be done,’ Kerala Tourism Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan told IANS. ‘Stiff opposition to this has also come from Delhi and that has surprised many of us,’ he said. But he did not elaborate as to who were opposing his appointment.

Salman is always looking out for his family members. After starring in his brother Arbaaz Khan’s production Dabang, Salman will next be working on brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri’s Hindi version of the Malayalam super hit Bodyguard.The buzz in the trade is that Boney had bought the rights of Bodyguard and wanted Prabhudebva (who directed the runaway hit Wanted not too long ago) to direct the Hindi version, but Salman asked him to hand over the rights to Atul Agnihotri. Siddique, who had directed the original in Malayalam, will also direct the Hindi version.

King Khan urges Bollywood to learn from Hollywood

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan Tuesday urged Indian filmmakers ‘to learn from Hollywood’ and offered a three-point prescription which could help the globalization of Bollywood movies. Speaking at the inaugural session of ‘FICCI FRAMES-2010′, Shah Rukh said that Indian filmmakers must learn screenplay writing techniques, visual effects and discipline in doing movie business from Hollywood.
‘However, learning Hollywood screenplay and technology is not about losing the intrinsic quality of our stories. We must maintain our own cinematic individuality,’ he said.
