Karma (Hindi:कर्मा) is a 1986 Bollywood film directed by Subhash Ghai. The film reunites Subhash Ghai and Dilip Kumar after the success of their last film together Vidhaata (1982). The film also marked the first time Dilip Kumar was paired with veteran actress Nutan.
When Jailer Vishwa Pratap Singh (Dilip Kumar) slaps captured terrorist Dr. Michael Dang (Anupam Kher), he does not realize he has re-shaped his own future, as soon after his two sons (Shashi Kiran, Satish Kaul), and daughter-in-law (Beena) are mercilessly killed by Dang’s army of men who set Dang free from prison.
Vishwa Pratab Singh’s only surviving youngest son (Jugal Hansraj) is crippled and his wife, Rukmani (Nutan) loses her vocal cords from the shock of losing her two sons. Now calling himself Dada Thakur, he is determined to get revenge on Dang and recruits three prisoners on death-row, Baiju Thakur (Jackie Shroff), Johnny/Gyneshwar (Anil Kapoor), and a former terrorist Khairuddin Chishti (Naseeruddin Shah) to assist him in his private war against Dang. However, Dada Thakur does not realize that his army of three have only agreed to join him so that they could enjoy freedom.

If you think, Bollywood lacks the kind of mystery and chills like Hollywood Thrillers then you should unravel the classic black and white reel racks.
Definitely these days Bollywood is not churning out sensible and thoughtful murder mysteries, recent releases like Game, Karthik Calling Karthik Calling are some of them but still those movies lack the kind of thrills & chills along with haunting music that classics ones had.

Parinda (1989)

Parinda was the first realistic gangster film in Hindi cinema, and it spawned a whole new genre of thrillers. It is a story about two brothers trapped in the gang war, and the conflicting pull of duty and family. Even now, Underworld slang in Bombay borrows from dialogue in this film.
Parinda was a critical and commercial hit, and the official Indian entry for the Oscars that year.
Cast: Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Madhuri Dixit, Anupam Kher
Chhoti Behan (1959)

Chhoti Bahen is the poignant story about the delicate but powerful bond of filial love. Hardly does one see such family movies these days. And the blame goes to more than exagratted daily TV soaps, which have killed three hours poignant drama into never ending annoying saga.
Starring: Nanda, Balraj Sahani,
Goonj Uthi Shehnai (1959) – Echoes of Shehnai

Its pretty refreshing to watch bollywood classics once in a while. You can clearly see, the advancements made by indian cinema in last few decades. From black and white to eastman color to todays Imax the advancement is definitely beyond anyones imagination. On the one hand can we see commercial and technical achievements bollywood have made but on the other hand you can clearly see the backruptcy of ideas in these days movie. No wonder, why directors are opting for remakes. Compared to classics like Kagaaz Ke Phool, Mudhumati, Mother India I often think where have all those writers gone.
If you thought Devdas (2001) was an ideal bollywood musical love story, then watch ‘Goonj Uthi Shehnai’ your belief will be shattered within first 5 minutes.
Starring: Rajendra Kumar, Ameeta
Lost in Love: Raj Kapoor and Nargis

Ruddy-cheeked and light-eyed, Raj Kapoor was unmistakably Destiny’s blue-eyed boy. As a romantic actor, his onscreen romance with Nargis, fuelled by larger-than-life stories of their off-screen relationship, was a glorious chapter in the cinematic history of Hindi cinema. Raj Kapoor first showed his scene-stealing abilities in Mehboob Khan’s Andaz (1949), where he costarred with Nargis and Dilip Kumar. Kapoor played Nargis’s flamboyant but suspicious husband with aplomb. Flamboyance was his forte in other early successes like Dastaan and Sargam as well. Although, he was paired with Nargis from his first produced-directed and acted movie Aag(1947).

If you thought Black (2005) was a great fare, then you will say outstanding to Dosti released in 1964. Dosti is one of the finest movies churned out from Rajshri Productions (makers of Miane Pyaar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun). It is a treasure-able product which families, friends should treasure upon watching. The title of the film resonates the true moral it depicts- the value of a friend.

Bandini is arguably Bimal Roy’s greatest and most complete film, Do Bigha Zameen nothwithstanding. The story is based on a book by Jarasandha, a former jail superintendent who wrote fictional versions of his experiences (Louha-Kapat (1953), Tamasha (1958), Nyaydanda (1961)). Set at a time when women had no choices, the film’s protagonist Kalyani had the courage to not only make choices in her life but choices which at times might appear to be even wrong ones as she gives up everything for love.
