From the brat with a roving eye, Salman Khan is now the picture of sobriety. When the actor recently skipped a party hosted by a close friend, he sent tongues wagging. Till it emerged that he is leading a regimented life for his neurological problem. Socially, his appearances have been marked by uncharacteristic restraint. At the launch of a gym in the far suburbs, Salman studiously kept his gaze away from the fawning beauties – right from the model who seemed to sway only for him, to one of the keen hostesses, who was given a polite ignore. Do we miss the spark? Perhaps. But a mellow Salman is just as good.

Saif Ali Khan is currently shooting in Greece for Race 2, and few know that former flame Bipasha Basu too is there shooting for a special appearance in the film.

Saifu’s fiancee Kareena Kapoor will be flying down shortly to meet him there. Says a source, “Saif has been shooting in Greece and Bipasha is also there on a work/holiday trip. She has taken some of her friends along and is currently chilling with them before the shoot starts. After Greece, the cast and crew will fly to Istanbul for the next leg of the 40-day schedule, which includes Bips.”

In a last minute twist to the tale, almost like a script written for Bollywood, superstar Aamir Khan failed to show up at the Government of India’s prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Awards in Mumbai last night.

The actor, who notoriously shies away from shows and declines awards himself, reportedly agreed to attend this function only because it commemorated 100 years of Indian cinema. And, his role would be to unveil a wax statue of Dadasaheb Phalke, who directed India`s first full-length feature Raja Harishchandra in 1913.

Politics is often about playing musical chairs. And Rajeev Shukla, state Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, may have finally managed to negotiate the minefield that is Rajya Sabha by reassigning seats for two very special members.

As this diarist had reported yesterday, Jaya Bachchan’s request to be moved out of her earlier seat, which would be dangerously close to that of debutante Rekha, had put Shukla’s office in a fix. But the good news is, he may have been able to work out a solution after all. After some careful permutation and combination, the minister has swapped Mrs Bachchan’s seat with another party colleague, at 143, far away from her previous 91. As for Rekha, we believe she will be allocated 97 or 98.

It seems that the director, who got slapped (read bashed) for rubbing Shah Rukh Khan the wrong way on Twitter, is not letting the bygones be bygones and is back to his old antics.

Actors Parineeti Chopra and Arjun Kapoor were in for a real surprise when the two made their first public appearance at a mall in Gomti Nagar for their upcoming film, “Ishaqzaade”.

Wondering woh surprise tha kya? Well, this starry trip turned out to be without much fanfare. The two actors, who are relatively new in the industry, were hardly recognized by the Lucknow ki janata. However, the number of security guards surrounding the two, did make people inquisitive to know who was inside the big security circle. “Oh..yeh toh Arjun and Parineeti hain! Security dekh ke toh laga Amitabh ya Aishwarya aa gaye hain mall mein,” joked a passerby.
