Nanik Rupani, the chairman of Priyadarshini Academy has announced that their biennial Smita Patil Memorial Award will be presented to Kareena Kapoor for her outstanding contribution to the Hindi film industry. Priyadarshini Academy is an NGO that has been conducting these award ceremonies since 1984.
This year, the ceremony will be hosted on the 19th of September at Hilton towers in Mumbai. Vilasrao Deshmukh, Maharashtra Chief Minister and also father of actor Riteish Deshmukh, will be the Chief Guest for the function.

After sending whole nation into laughterthon in 2003 with Munnabhai MBBS, Munna and Circuit are back agian with yet another laughter journey in a seuquel titled as - Lage Raho Munna Bhai. Although major actors are the same, their characters are not. Only character of Munna & Circuit are retianed from the MBBS, those too aren’t waana be docs anymore. Boman herein plays a loud punjabi builder, while Jimmy another man in bad luck. New sober and simplistic entry is done by Vidya Balan (Parineeta fame) as RJ, with whom Munna falls in love this time.
Orbituary: Hrishikesh Mukherjee passes away (1922 - 2006)

Got a sad news the veteren filmmaker - Hrishikesh Mukherjee, popularly known as Hrishida, passed away today, 27th August 2006. He was suffering from severe illiness for pretty long time. The void created in Indian Cinema by his departure, could never be filled up.
