It seems that the Bhatts and Vishesh Films had first opted for Sonal Chauhan, the Jannat girl, for their next film Jashan. But even one-film wonders have their nakhras and hang-ups. Hence, when the makers approached Sonal for Jashan, she turned it down.Of course, there are all kinds of politically correct reasons being given for the decision. But the real reason reportedly is that the film’s hero was none other than Adhyayan Suman, the son of actor Shekhar Suman. Her reason being that after working with the likes of Emraan Hashmi in her first film, she felt that she should be working with bigger heroes and not a newcomer like Adhyayan.

It is only after she turned down the role that the makers approached Prachi Desai, the Bani of Indian television, who made a very impressive debut in Rock On. The way things are, one would say that Sonal’s loss is Prachi’s gain. Despite being pitted against established actors, she managed to make her presence felt. If Sonal is already acting pricey, she has more to lose than gain in this industry. Jashan is a love story which is being directed by Hasnain and Raksha, who had earlier directed The Train, starring Emraan and Geeta Basra.
