Movie Review: My Name is Khan (2010)

12

February

SRK, Kajol and Karan Johar the trio who have never given a single flop. Even in the movies, where Kajol has just a guest appearance. Moreover, Kajol and SRK have never failed to impress both critics and audience alike. Awards, Huge Box Office collection have always followed these stars. So, My Name Is Khan had huge expectations. People have been waiting for months for this movie release and luckily I got a chance to watch the first day, first show.

To simply put into words; My Name Is Khan is an average movie, which could have been better movie with good screenplay, dialogue and even with editing. Karan has tried to include too many things into 2:40 Hrs; Autism problem, Romance, 9/11, Post 9/11 torture, Human behavior in trauma, US people psychology over Muslims, Jihad movement, etc.

16th Star Screen Awards (2010) Nominations !

30

December

3 Idiots seems to have swept aside every film of consequence that released this year. Such is the impact of the film, a lot of which has to do with its late release, that every other movie that came before it, seems to be dwarfed in comparison. And this is a year which has seen films like ‘Dev D’, ‘Gulaal’, ‘Firaaq’, ‘Rocket Singh Salesman Of The Year’, ‘Kaminey’, ‘Paa’ and ‘Love Aaj Kal’, all of which have stretched the language of Hindi cinema in their own manner. But ‘3 Idiots’ seems all set to bag most major awards. An indication of things to come was received when the film received 21 nominations out of 28 categories in the forthcoming 16th Annual Screen Awards.

Raaz (2009) The Mystery Continues Movie Review - Spooky !

23

January

Disclaimer: If you thought RGV’s Bhoot was scary then this might give you heart failure. STRICTLY NOT for the weak heart people.

Mohit Suri, Vikesh Flims, Mahesh Bhatt, Mukesh Bhatt along with Emraan Hashmi what would you expect besides strip down Hollywood movies, but with good story adaptation and excellent execution. Well, this time too they don’t disappoint. Raaz - The Mystery Continues seems to be loosely inspired from Hollywood flicks - ‘The Ring’ (Well Scene), Da Vinci Code and many others. You can see Mohit nearing the perfection with every film of his and definitely, Raaz - The Murder Continues is one fine example of it. Raaz- TMC is a paranormal horror story merging Hindu mythology, its tribunal exorcist rituals and urbane life. Raaz as the name suggests is full of twists and turns and will scare hell out of you with its background score, unexpected scary scenes, etc.

If you want to feel Xzone this weekend, book yourself for Raaz - TMC.

Chandani Chowk to China (2008) Movie Review - International !

16

January

Finally, Bollywood delivers Hollywood level movie with Chandani Chowk to China (CC2C). It is not just because the movie is being backed by Time Warner Hollywood Studio, but its story, backdrop, action and above all performance of Akshay Kumar raises the movies bar.
Chandani Chowk to China is one thrilling action comedy movie which is loosely inspired by recent Hollywood animation movie - ‘Kunfu Panda’. It has raw kunfu action, matrix level special effects, lost & found drama, comedy of errors, unexpected twists & turns and yes dollops of emotion. The movie doesn’t has a single second of boring moment. It’s complete family entertainer.

15th Star Screen Awards (2009) Nominations !

13

January

Its time for award ceremonies in Bollywood and here are the nominees for the 15th Star Screen Awards set to take place on January 14, 2009. So guess your best movies, actors, singers, etc. Last year saw the cropping of once again good meaningful realistic cinema like - A Wednesday, Mumbai Meri Jaan, Aamir, etc, at the same time all of these movies were small budget with not much so called BIG COMMERCIAL stars in it. Even newcomer Imran Khan’s Janee Tu didn’t disappoint the audience. We also saw steady growth of big stars in terms of B.O with Jodhaa Akbar (Hrithik), RNBDJ (SRK), Ghajini (Aamir), Race (Saif), SIK (Akshay). There were also some biggest disasters in this year - Drona (Abhishek), Yuvvraaj (Salman), Tashan (Saif, Akki, Bebo), etc.

The award show video will be posted online as soon as its aired only at musicNmovies.com TV Zone

Ghajini (2008) Movie Review - Definately Worth Watching !

25

December

Ghajini has everything going on its side; Ace Khan (Aamir), Blockbuster script (in Tamil & Telegu), excellent promos and the Christmas season. But most of all a revenge story of a person who is suffering from special case of Amnesia, who can’t remember anything more than 15 minutes was more than enough to crowd the theaters from 7:00 AM in the morning. Aamir Khan’s Ghajini is far ahead compared to his peer khans - Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (SRK) and Yuvvraj (Salman) latest movies in terms of story, execution and performance. Despite most of the things going for the movie, the movie does lack few things in the editing department.

After not so frutiful year, finally something fresh hits the screen to celebrate.

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008) Movie Review - An Average Fare

12

December

It’s very sad to see big directors falters. Despite a serious attempt to make something different from regular glossy Yash Raj Flims, Aditya Chopra fails to create magic with this years most awaited movie - Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Its not that the movie is complete crap, the movie does have some finest moments but in total due to lack of interesting plots and screenplay in second half the movie fails to impress in total.

Overall, an average fare.
Pinnacle: Kajol & Shah Rukh Khan dream sequence song in THE RAJ KAPOOR & NARGIS style.
