Kidnap (2008) *MQ*

The new kid on the block is indeed quite natty. Sanjay Gadhvi’s thriller may be low on Dhoom this time, but young Imran Khan more than makes up for the sluggish pace and the mediocre script. His transition from the sweet, chocolate boy hero of his debut film, Jaane Tu…into a mean, merciless, embittered and scarred vengeance-seeker is smooth and convincing. Of course, the pout is still there, but so is the newly acquired stubble, the deadpan voice, the no-frills histrionics. Interesting.

Hijack (2008) *HQ*

You like the film despite itself. It has all the regular trappings that have become a rule-book for a Bolly thriller – fidayeen terrorists, a helpess government, a man wronged, and the ultimate film manipulation tool – a cutesy kid in danger.

Ravan Raaj: A True Story (1995)

Rama Rao Tatineni’s mid-90’s superhit action movie “Ravan Raaj” delivers the true story of kidney smugllers in a very well treated and realistic way and Mithun delivered, as usual, a superb performance. Music was good. Action scenes revealed that Mithun was still young despite his age. Locations shot were also very good, but wonder where the last part was shot - in India or overseas.

Cast: Ishrat Ali, Mithun Chakraborty, Harish

Maa Tujhhe Salaam (2002)

Tinu Verma’s directorial debut “Maa Tujhhe Salaam” is a kitsch-ridden action packed drama with an overdose of patriotic jingoism.Apart from cashing on Sunny Deol’s Desh Bhakt image, the film raises the burning issue of Kashmir through a story that is overtly anti-Pakistan.The film is set in the beautiful valleys and ravines of Kashmir.

Zulm Ki Hukumat (1992)

This film rocks. It is possibly the best Indian remake of the Godfather and I believe that Mr. Ram Gopal Verma’s Sarkar is a copy of this film.It has fantastic performances by Govinda, Dharmendra, and all others. The film opens with an introduction to our characters and then shapes up pretty good.

Cast: Dharmendra, Moushumi Chatterjee, Govinda
