Bhagam Bhag (2006)

It is certainly not the best of Priyadarshan. But Bhagam Bhaag still makes for an entertaining watch. The film’s crazy plot, filled with comic chaos and confusion, is its main USP.On top of it, Akshay Kumar shows his impeccable flair for comedy. The basic formula of ‘Bhagam Bhag’ is the same as any other Priyadarshan movie. The story’s central characters try to outsmart each other, but wind up in a situation where they are hunted by a number of other over-the-top characters. There are mistaken identities, a murder, an underhand plot, chaos and commotion.

Apna Sapna Money Money (2006)

Here comes yet another slapstick comedy filled with madcap characters in search of hidden diamonds. Sangeeth Sivan’s movie Apna Sapna Money Money is a corny, crowded entertainer that banks majorly on crass and crude humour.Wit is not something you should expect from a movie like ‘Money Money’. The comedy in the movie is juvenile and at times even childish. Yet there are some sequences that turn out to be immensely entertaining. These sequences mostly come from Ritesh Deshmukh , the young star with a very natural flair for comedy.

Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge (2010) *MQ*

null
Neat. Subtle. And softly funny. Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge is quite unlike the hysterical laugh acts that have been trying terribly hard to make you laugh in recent Bollywood. More of a chuckle-and-a-smirk drama, this one doesn’t even try to convince you that life is all ha-ha-he-he. Instead, it creates situations and characters that fill you with warmth and make you smile with the familiar quirkiness of recognisable situations.

Toh Baat Pakki (2010) MQ*

null
This family sitcom about finding a suitable boy seems like a blast from the past when the Sooraj Barjatya films used to invite numerous footfalls into theatres.Toh Baat Pakki, directed by Kedar Shinde, comes a little late in the day.The director adopts a simple, uncluttered approach to tell the story but stuffs it up with unnecessary melodrama at many places, the second half particularly.

3 Idiots (2009) *MQ*

Rajkumar Hirani’s trademark feel good touch is evident throughout the running time of 3 Idiots. Almost three-hour-long, this film is a satire on India’s education system. Set in an engineering college, it focuses on some relevant issues such as – bookish learning vs practical knowledge, exam stress, parental pressure, student committing suicides et al.
