Being the directorial debut of Ravi Dewan, whose forte is fights and stunts, the film relies too heavily on action sequences more than anything else. The film’s climax in particular is replete with adrenalin savvy sequences of bomb blasts and gunfights. The film is based on an oft-repeated subject that does not leave much impact on the viewer.Even the director’s presentation is shoddy and screenplay is marred with jerky editing.
Cast: Sanjay Dutt, Sunil Shetty, Ashutosh Rana
Anamika (1973) is a Hindi movie made in India and directed by Raghunath Jalani. It is a romantic, suspense film with memorable songs by composer R.D. Burman and lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri, such as “Meri Bheegi Bheegi Si” sung by Kishore Kumar and “Bahon Mein Chale Aao” sung by Lata Mangeshkar. This film is unrelated to the 2008 film Anamika starring Dino Morea.
This is one of the minor examples of Bollywood’s ability to cross genres. For better ones, turn to “Humraaz” or, well, probably anything you can find on the market. Why is “Yeh Kaisi Mohabbat” this bad? It starts and ends with Johnny Lever.
WEDNESDAY” tells the story of certain events that unfold between 2 and 6 pm on a particular Wednesday-events which do not exist in any record but which deeply effects the lives of those involved.Prakash Rathod, Commissioner of Police, Mumbai (played by Mr Anupam Kher) gets a call demanding the release of four militants in lieu of information on bombs that the man has planted in various parts of the city.At first, Prakash suspects it to be a crank call but his doubts are dispelled once he actually finds a bomb planted in the police station right opposite his Police Headquarters.
The new kid on the block is indeed quite natty. Sanjay Gadhvi’s thriller may be low on Dhoom this time, but young Imran Khan more than makes up for the sluggish pace and the mediocre script. His transition from the sweet, chocolate boy hero of his debut film, Jaane Tu…into a mean, merciless, embittered and scarred vengeance-seeker is smooth and convincing. Of course, the pout is still there, but so is the newly acquired stubble, the deadpan voice, the no-frills histrionics. Interesting.
404 is a title aimed at today’s internet junkies and youngsters. It’s intriguing enough to find out why a film is titled so. It’s a smart move by the makers of this psychological thriller. Speaking of psychological thrillers, we haven’t seen one in Bollywood since a long time. So it’s a welcome change amidst the rom-coms and love stories.
